Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 13 (MAP3K13) is a serine/threonine kinase enzyme involved in intracellular signal transduction pathways. It contains a dual leucine-zipper motif facilitating dimerization/oligomerization and phosphorylates downstream kinases such as MAP2K7/MKK7 and MAPK8/JNK, thereby activating the JNK signaling pathway. MAP3K13 also acts synergistically with PRDX3 to regulate NF-kappaB activation via the IKK complex. It is encoded by the *MAP3K13* gene on human chromosome 3q27.2 and is implicated in pathways such as TGF-beta and stress response. Associations with disease include cancer susceptibility, particularly glioma and carotid body tumors. It is categorized as a therapeutic target due to its role as an upstream regulator in major signaling pathways.
