Mitotic spindle organizing protein 1 pseudogene 1 (MZT1P1) is a processed pseudogene according to multiple authoritative sources (GeneCards, HGNC, Ensembl)[1][5][7]. Pseudogenes are nonfunctional gene segments that resemble active genes but do not encode proteins or functional RNAs[8]. MZT1P1 is related in sequence to the protein-coding mitotic spindle organizing protein 1 (MZT1) gene but does not itself produce any functional product. As a pseudogene, MZT1P1 is not a therapeutic target, has no established biological role, is not involved in disease, and is not used as a biomarker. There are no known drugs or safety concerns associated with it. Note: Be careful not to confuse MZT1P1 (the pseudogene) with MZT1 (mitotic spindle organizing protein 1), which is a functional gene involved in microtubule organization during cell division[3]. MZT1P1, in contrast, is considered nonfunctional ("processed pseudogene")[1][7][5].
