Mitotic spindle organizing protein 1 pseudogene 2 (MZT1P2) is a human processed pseudogene. It resembles the functional mitotic spindle organizing protein 1 gene but contains mutations and lacks the ability to encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes like MZT1P2 are usually biologically inert, though rare exceptions exist where some pseudogene transcripts modulate gene expression through mechanisms such as microRNA competition. There is no published evidence that MZT1P2 is transcribed or functionally active in human cells, nor are there known links to disease, therapy, or biomarker development.
