Mitotically associated long non-coding RNA (MANCR), also known as LINC00704, is a long non-coding RNA highly expressed in certain aggressive cancers such as triple-negative breast cancer. MANCR is located on chromosome 10 (10p15.1) and does not encode a protein[3][5]. It is upregulated in cancerous tissues and regulates cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, and genomic stability. Depletion of MANCR in cancer cells leads to reduced cell proliferation, increased DNA damage, defective cytokinesis, and increased cell death. High MANCR expression is associated with worse outcomes in breast cancer patients, making it a potential therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker. MANCR is both nuclear and cytoplasmic in localization and expressed periodically during the cell cycle, peaking during mitosis[1][2][3][5].
