Overview

MJC41 is a tumor-associated protein biomarker that exhibits significant overexpression in colorectal cancer (CRC) tissues compared to normal tissues [1]. Discovered using a proprietary matrix protein array (MPAT) platform, the protein is found in approximately 50% of both early and late-stage CRC specimens, whereas its expression in 24 major normal human organs is negligible [1]. Biochemical analysis reveals the protein is localized to the cytoplasm and the cell membrane, with major molecular weight bands at approximately 95 kDa and 55 kDa on Western blot [1]. Monoclonal antibodies targeting MJC41 (MJC41 mAb) have shown high avidity and specific in vivo targeting of CRC xenografts in preclinical models [1]. This high specificity and cellular localization profile suggest that MJC41 is a promising target for enhanced molecular imaging, such as MRI and CT tracer applications for CRC diagnosis and surveillance, and may serve as a target for future antibody-based therapeutic developments [1].
