MLIP antisense RNA 1 (MLIP-AS1)

Target
MLIP-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, Antisense RNA
01

Overview

MLIP antisense RNA 1 (MLIP-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the MLIP gene on chromosome 6. lncRNAs such as MLIP-AS1 are implicated in transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation, potentially modulating chromatin state or RNA processing. The MLIP-AS1 region has been implicated in influencing patient response to glaucoma treatments, suggesting that copy number variation in this lncRNA may modulate MLIP expression, impacting pharmacological outcomes. There is, however, no evidence that MLIP-AS1 functions as a canonical druggable target such as a receptor or enzyme. Further research is needed to define its precise molecular mechanism and its disease associations[1][2].
