MMP20 antisense RNA 1 (MMP20-AS1, also known as AP000851.1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located in the human genome and expressed as an antisense transcript relative to the MMP20 gene. As an antisense lncRNA, it does not encode a protein and is presumed to act through potential regulatory mechanisms affecting gene expression, mRNA stability, or chromatin state of the sense gene (MMP20), which encodes the matrix metalloproteinase 20 enzyme. However, no specific biological functions, disease associations, or therapeutic relevance have yet been established for MMP20-AS1 itself. *Note:* The presence and basic annotation of this lncRNA are confirmed in public gene resources, but as of now, there is no evidence that it is a characterized therapeutic target, a biomarker, or associated with drugs or defined clinical safety profiles.
