MOB kinase activator 3B (MOB3B)

Target
MOB3B
Molecular classification
Enzyme regulator, Kinase activator, Protein kinase activator, Hippo pathway component, MOB family protein
01

Overview

MOB kinase activator 3B is a member of the MOB (Mps one binder) family of kinase regulators, structurally and functionally similar to yeast Mob1. It activates or modulates kinases within the Hippo signaling pathway, which is crucial for controlling organ size via regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and tumor suppression. Loss or reduced expression of MOB3B has been implicated in aggressive forms of prostate cancer and may serve as a biomarker for disease risk. The protein acts as a co-activator of LATS1 kinase, a core Hippo pathway effector, and is essential for normal mitotic checkpoint regulation and possibly other cell cycle-related processes[1][2][3][4].

Mechanism of action

Drugs (often experimental or broad-spectrum) that modulate cellular kinases or Hippo pathway components may alter MOB3B expression, affecting cell proliferation and apoptosis[1][2].

05

Safety considerations

As a tumor suppressor, unintended inhibition or downregulation could promote cancer progression.Therapeutic modulation would require careful targeting to avoid impacting normal mitotic and apoptotic processes. No specific drug safety concerns have been documented for direct targeting[1][3].
06

Biomarkers

Reduced MOB3B mRNA in prostate cancer tissue may act as a biomarker for disease severity and metastatic risk[1].
