MOB kinase activator 3C is a small (~20 kDa) protein encoded by the human MOB3C gene and is a poorly characterized member of the highly conserved MOB protein family[2]. It has structural similarity to other MOB proteins and acts as an adaptor or scaffold in protein complex formation, particularly linking to the RNase P ribonucleoprotein complex involved in tRNA maturation[2]. Unlike the well-studied MOB1A/B (Hippo pathway regulators), MOB3C's function and disease relevance remain largely unstudied, though it is distinguished by unique protein-protein interactions with components of RNase P and possibly other ribonucleoprotein complexes in the nucleus[2]. MOB3C may permit specific regulation of RNA processing events, but the consequences of this interaction require further investigation. There are no drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns associated with this molecule as a target in current medical use[1][2][5].
