Moesin pseudogene 1 (MSNP1) is a human genomic pseudogene highly similar to the MSN (moesin) gene but lacks canonical protein-coding ability due to genetic mutations and/or premature stop codons[4][3]. As a pseudogene, MSNP1 may be transcribed into non-coding RNAs, such as antisense or long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), that can regulate its parental gene (MSN) via transcriptional or post-transcriptional mechanisms. For example, its antisense transcript (MSNP1AS) has regulatory roles in modulating MSN protein levels[5]. Such regulatory effects can involve miRNA sponge activity or antisense RNA-mediated silencing affecting cell processes and parental gene expression patterns. Overall, MSNP1 is not a protein or receptor, nor is it considered a therapeutic target, although its non-coding RNA products have research relevance in gene regulation and disease mechanisms.
