Monoamine neurotransmitters are a **class** of small-molecule chemical messengers that contain one amino group connected to an aromatic ring by a two-carbon chain. The main members include **dopamine**, **norepinephrine** (noradrenaline), **epinephrine** (adrenaline), **serotonin** (5-hydroxytryptamine), and **histamine**.
