Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 (MCP-1), also known as CCL2, is a key chemokine involved in the recruitment of monocytes, macrophages, and other immune cells to sites of inflammation. It plays a significant role in various diseases characterized by chronic inflammation and tissue injury, including diabetes, atherosclerosis, and obesity-related complications.
