Overview

Monocytes and dendritic cells are essential myeloid-derived leukocytes that orchestrate the body's immune response. Monocytes circulate in the blood and migrate into tissues to differentiate into macrophages or monocyte-derived dendritic cells, particularly during inflammation (Source: NIH, StatPearls).
