Monocytic leukemia zinc-finger protein-related factor (MORF), also known as KAT6B or MYST4, is a catalytic subunit of the major human lysine acetyltransferase (KAT) complex. It is essential for neurogenesis, transcriptional regulation, and chromatin remodeling. The protein possesses domains that bind to acetylated or acylated lysine residues on histone H3, thereby influencing gene expression by modifying chromatin structure. Mutations or translocations of MORF are implicated in various cancers and developmental disorders. MORF functions both as a "writer" (acetyltransferase) and "reader" (acyllysine recognition) of lysine acylation, critical for the formation of open chromatin domains and transcriptional control
