Overview

MORC2 antisense RNA 1 (MORC2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed as an antisense RNA to the MORC2 gene. It does not encode a protein. MORC2-AS1 has been implicated in the regulation of various biological processes, notably cell proliferation, apoptosis, and cell migration, primarily through modulating gene expression at the epigenetic and transcriptional level[6]. Like other lncRNA NATs (natural antisense transcripts), it may regulate the expression of its overlapping sense gene or other genes through chromatin modification and RNA interaction mechanisms[2]. Upregulation of MORC2-AS1 has been associated with oncogenic processes in several cancers, although it is not considered a classical drug target such as a receptor or enzyme[6]. **Note:** MORC2-AS1 is not a protein or classic therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, transporter), but a regulatory non-coding RNA[5][6][7]. No approved drugs or direct molecular therapeutics are currently known to target this lncRNA. If your interest is clinical, it may serve as a putative biomarker or research tool in cancer biology, but is not yet a validated clinical target.
