Mouse double minute X (MDMX)

Target
MDMX
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, p53 regulator
01

Overview

MDMX, also known as MDM4, is a critical negative regulator of the tumor suppressor protein p53. It inhibits p53's transcriptional activity by binding to its transactivation domain. While lacking intrinsic E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, it forms a heterodimer with MDM2 to suppress p53 activity. Overexpression of MDMX is implicated in various cancers, making it a target for therapeutic intervention aimed at restoring wild-type p53 function.
