Target intelligence / Profile preview
MPC1 divergent transcript (MPC1-DT) is a long non-coding RNA, transcribed in the opposite direction to the protein-coding MPC1 gene[2][7]. Divergent transcription of lncRNAs from promoters of protein-coding genes is a widespread phenomenon in mammalian genomes, often involved in fine-tuning gene expression and potentially regulatory functions[4][6]. However, there are no published functional studies for MPC1-DT itself, and it is not known to encode a functional protein or serve as a direct therapeutic target. It should not be confused with MPC1, the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier 1 protein, which is a well-characterized transporter implicated in metabolism and disease[1][3][5].
