MPDU1 antisense RNA 1 (MPDU1-AS1), also known as AC016876.1, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 17 (coordinates: 7,581,960–7,584,102, reverse strand)[1][5][7]. It is classified as an antisense RNA: a non-protein-coding transcript produced from the DNA strand opposite to the MPDU1 gene. While antisense lncRNAs generally function in regulation of their sense gene or other aspects of gene expression, no experimentally verified biological function has been specifically established for MPDU1-AS1. Some evidence has linked MPDU1-AS1 to congenital disorder of glycosylation, type If, but no drugs are known to specifically target this RNA, and it is not considered a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter[3][6].
