As such, it is not considered a molecular target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor) and currently has no known biological functions, disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker utility[5]. While some functional methyltransferases (such as those in the METTL and MRM3 families) play important roles in RNA modification and are relevant to disease, MRM3P1 itself is only a non-coding pseudogene and not biologically active as a protein or therapeutic target[5][1]. There is no evidence it is involved functionally in cellular processes or pathology.
