Target intelligence / Profile preview
MT-CO1 pseudogene 55 (MTCO1P55) is a non-functional pseudogene related to the mitochondrial gene MT-CO1 (mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase I). Unlike the canonical MT-CO1 gene, which encodes a key subunit of the mitochondrial electron transport chain (complex IV)[1][2], this pseudogene is not known to produce a protein or participate in mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. There are no established therapeutic, diagnostic, or biomarker roles for MT-CO1 pseudogene 55, nor is it a receptor, enzyme, or transporter.
