Overview

MT-CO2 pseudogene 32 (MTCO2P32) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene in the human genome, annotated on the nuclear chromosome and not on the mitochondrial genome[3][7]. It is homologous to the MT-CO2 gene, which encodes cytochrome c oxidase II (a subunit of mitochondrial respiratory complex IV)[1][9], but as a pseudogene, MTCO2P32 contains sequence similarity to the protein-coding gene but does not produce a functional enzyme or play a direct role in mitochondrial electron transport or other cellular processes[3][7]. There is no evidence that this pseudogene is a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other therapeutic target, nor has it been associated with any direct disease function, drug interaction, or clinical biomarker role[3][7][5][2].
