Overview

MT-CO3 pseudogene 13 (MTCO3P13) is classified as a human pseudogene and does not code for a functional protein product[4][5]. It is named in reference to the mitochondrial gene MT-CO3, which encodes cytochrome c oxidase subunit III, a key component of mitochondrial respiratory complex IV; however, MTCO3P13 itself is not involved in mitochondrial function and has no known protein, enzymatic, or receptor activity[4][5]. There is no evidence that MTCO3P13 acts as a drug target, participates in biological pathways, or has any role in disease or therapy. MTCO3P13 is not a functional molecular target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter. It is a pseudogene, lacks biological function, and should not be considered a therapeutic target[4][5].
