MTCO3P23 is a non-coding DNA sequence and does not produce a functional protein or participate directly in cellular processes. It has no established biological function or clinical relevance as a drug target, disease gene, or biomarker[4][2]. There is no evidence in curated genetic or biomedical databases that MTCO3P23 encodes any protein or is relevant as a therapeutic target, disease gene, or biomarker[4][2]. In contrast, the functional MT-CO3 gene (not the pseudogene) is required for mitochondrial electron transport, and mutations in that gene are associated with various mitochondrial disorders, but MTCO3P23 does not share these roles[1][3][4].
