Target intelligence / Profile preview
MT-CYB pseudogene 1 (MTCYBP1) is a nuclear pseudogene related to the functional mitochondrial gene MT-CYB. Unlike the functional MT-CYB, which encodes a core protein subunit of mitochondrial complex III (critical for cellular respiration and ATP production), MTCYBP1 is non-coding and does not encode a functional protein. As a pseudogene, it has no known role as a drug target, biomarker, or contributor to disease, and it does not participate in physiological or pathological processes relevant to human health[1][4][8].
