MT-ND1 pseudogene 23 (MTND1P23) is a pseudogene located in the nuclear genome, homologous to the protein-coding mitochondrial gene MT-ND1, which encodes NADH dehydrogenase subunit 1—a component of complex I in the electron transport chain[5]. Unlike the functional MT-ND1 gene, MTND1P23 does not encode a protein and is classified as a non-functional genetic element.
