MT-ND1 pseudogene 26 (MTND1P26) is a pseudogene bearing sequence similarity to the functional mitochondrial gene MT-ND1, which codes for a subunit of NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (Complex I) of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Unlike the functional MT-ND1 gene, which encodes a core subunit essential for mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation and is associated with metabolic and neurodegenerative disorders, MTND1P26 is not transcribed into a functional protein and has no established role in cellular or physiological processes[2][11]. There is currently no evidence that MTND1P26 is involved in human disease, therapeutic targeting, or drug action. In summary, MTND1P26 is a pseudogene and is not a functional therapeutic target or receptor. All major drug, gene, and disease databases confirm its pseudogene status, and there is no evidence of biological, pharmacological, or disease relevance directly attributed to it[2][11].
