MT-ND1 pseudogene 4 (MTND1P4) is a presumed non-coding pseudogene related to the mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase 1 (MT-ND1) gene. Pseudogenes like MTND1P4 do not produce functional proteins and are generally considered non-functional relics of evolution, often arising from gene duplication or retrotransposition events. Unlike the functional MT-ND1 gene, which encodes a core subunit of mitochondrial Complex I and is implicated in energy metabolism and mitochondrial disease, there is no evidence that MTND1P4 encodes a protein, is involved in disease, or serves as a therapeutic target[9]. There is also no evidence in genetic databases or the scientific literature for clinical significance, molecular interactions, or druggability for this pseudogene.
