MT-ND2 pseudogene 13 (MTND2P13) is a nuclear pseudogene that is homologous to the mitochondrial gene MT-ND2, which encodes the NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase core subunit 2; however, as a pseudogene, MTND2P13 is not expressed as a functional protein and does not encode an enzymatically active product[4]. It is located on chromosome 17 (human genome build hg38: chr17:22525899-22526937)[4]. As a pseudogene, MTND2P13 has no known therapeutic relevance, biological function, or role in disease; it does not serve as a therapeutic drug target. The functional mitochondrial MT-ND2 gene is critical for mitochondrial complex I function and is associated with several diseases, but this information does not apply to MTND2P13, which is non-functional and annotated solely based on sequence homology[4].
