MT-ND3 pseudogene 16 (MTND3P16) is a nuclear pseudogene that shares sequence similarity to the functional mitochondrial gene MT-ND3, which encodes a subunit of respiratory chain Complex I. MTND3P16 does not produce a functional protein and is not involved in biological pathways or disease processes. Its designation as a pseudogene means it represents a relic of gene duplication or transfer from the mitochondria to the nucleus (NUMT: nuclear mitochondrial DNA segment) with no known protein-coding function. In summary, MTND3P16 is not a valid therapeutic or biological target but rather a pseudogene without established function, disease relevance, or druggability. If you are interested in the functional mitochondrial Complex I subunit, refer to the MT-ND3 gene, not its pseudogenes.
