MT-ND4 pseudogene 11 (MTND4P11) is a nuclear mitochondrial pseudogene (NUMT) originating from the mitochondrial MT-ND4 gene, which encodes a subunit of respiratory chain complex I. Unlike the functional, mitochondrial-encoded MT-ND4 gene (involved in electron transport and ATP generation[1][2][3][4]), MTND4P11 lacks protein-coding potential and is not involved in cellular bioenergetics or known disease processes. It does not encode a functional NADH dehydrogenase subunit and is not considered a therapeutic target or biomarker; there is no evidence it plays any physiological or pathological role.
