Overview

MT-ND4 pseudogene 30 (MTND4P30) is a nuclear DNA pseudogene related to the mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase 4 (MT-ND4) gene[6][7]. Pseudogenes such as MTND4P30 are fragments or copies of mitochondrial genes found in the nuclear genome; they do not produce functional mitochondrial complex I subunits and do not possess known biological or therapeutic roles. While functional MT-ND4 is essential in mitochondrial electron transport and linked to some diseases, the MTND4P30 pseudogene is not transcribed into a functional protein and is not involved in mitochondrial respiration, disease pathogenesis, or drug targeting[7]. MT-ND4 pseudogene 30 (MTND4P30) is a nuclear, non-coding pseudogene—not a functional receptor, enzyme, or disease-associated protein[6][7].
