Target intelligence / Profile preview
MT-ND5 pseudogene 7 is a nuclear DNA-encoded pseudogene that is homologous to the mitochondrial MT-ND5 gene, which codes for a subunit of respiratory chain complex I in mitochondria. As a pseudogene, MTND5P7 does not encode a functional protein, plays no known active role in mitochondrial energy metabolism, and has no described role as a therapeutic target or disease biomarker. Nuclear-embedded mitochondrial pseudogenes such as MTND5P7 arise due to the transfer of mitochondrial sequence fragments to the nuclear genome, but do not contribute to electron transport chain function or pathology.
