MT-ND6 pseudogene 7 (MTND6P7) is a nuclear-encoded pseudogene derived from the mitochondrial gene MT-ND6, which encodes the NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase core subunit 6 in mitochondrial complex I. However, as a pseudogene, MTND6P7 does not encode a functional protein and is generally classified as noncoding, with no direct biological function, molecular activity, or disease role attributed to it. Mutations and dysfunction associated with mitochondrial complex I involve the active MT-ND6 gene, not this pseudogene[1][2][3][5]. Thus, MTND6P7 is not a therapeutic target, nor does it serve as a biomarker, interact with any drugs, or pose clinical safety issues.
