Overview

MT-ND6 pseudogene 9 (MTND6P9) is a mitochondrial pseudogene homologous to the functional MT-ND6 gene, which encodes a core subunit of Complex I (NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase) in the mitochondrial respiratory chain[1][2][3]. As a pseudogene, MTND6P9 does not encode a functional protein and is not implicated in energy metabolism or mitochondrial disease. There is no evidence that this pseudogene is expressed or plays a direct role in physiology or pathology. Literature does not support its consideration as a therapeutic target, diagnostic biomarker, or pharmacological receptor. Notes: - The functional, protein-coding gene is *MT-ND6*, which encodes a subunit of Complex I, critical for mitochondrial electron transport and associated with several diseases when mutated[1][2][3]. - MTND6P9 represents a nonfunctional, presumably nuclear-encoded DNA sequence that does not contribute to mitochondrial function. - Some databases may list pseudogenes such as MTND6P9 for genome annotation purposes, but these are not targetable therapeutic entities. If you intended the canonical MT-ND6 gene (which is a functional subunit of mitochondrial Complex I), that is a validated target related to mitochondrial disease, but MTND6P9 is not.
