Target intelligence / Profile preview
MTCH1 pseudogene 2 (MTCH1P2) is a pseudogene—an inactive DNA sequence that shares sequence similarity to the active mitochondrial carrier homolog 1 (MTCH1) gene. Unlike MTCH1, which encodes a mitochondrial outer membrane protein with roles in apoptosis and ferroptosis regulation[1][2][3][8], MTCH1P2 does not produce a functional protein and is not considered a drug target, nor does it have established biological or clinical relevance. Pseudogenes like MTCH1P2 may occasionally be transcribed, but lack coding potential and established roles in disease or as therapeutic targets[6].
