MTFR2P2 (MTFR2 pseudogene 2) is a sequence in the human genome that resembles the MTFR2 gene but does not encode a functional protein and lacks biological or pathological relevance. Pseudogenes such as MTFR2P2 result from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and acquire mutations that prevent them from being translated into active proteins. In biomedical research and drug development, pseudogenes like MTFR2P2 are generally ignored unless shown to have non-coding regulatory effects, which have not been described here or in specialist databases.
