Overview

MTUS1-DT, or MTUS1 divergent transcript, is an RNA gene classified as a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) and is distinct from the protein-coding MTUS1 gene (microtubule-associated tumor suppressor 1). The Ensembl and GeneCards databases catalog MTUS1-DT as an RNA gene with currently unknown biological function, phenotype, or disease associations[5]. It should not be confused with the protein-coding MTUS1 gene, which encodes microtubule-associated scaffold protein 1 and has recognized roles in cancer and cardiac biology[1][2][3][4]. There is no current evidence that MTUS1-DT serves as a therapeutic target, nor are any drugs or mechanisms of action reported for it. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the annotation “MTUS1 divergent transcript” as an lncRNA gene, but it is not a drug target or receptor by conventional definitions. If your context requires well-characterized therapeutic targets, using MTUS1-DT would be incorrect. Conversely, if cataloging non-coding RNAs, the label is accurate, but structured data are largely missing.
