Overview

MTUS2 antisense RNA 1 (MTUS2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 13 (chromosomal position 29,476,515–29,490,105, reverse strand, GRCh38). It produces several splice variants of non-protein-coding transcripts and is transcribed antisense to the MTUS2 (Microtubule Associated Scaffold Protein 2) gene. Antisense lncRNAs like MTUS2-AS1 generally participate in the regulation of their corresponding protein-coding gene via sequence-specific interactions, often modulating expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level, but no experimentally validated specific biological or disease functions are currently published for MTUS2-AS1. There is no evidence this RNA acts as a therapeutic target, nor are there any known interacting drugs, biomarker roles, or safety concerns; it is classified primarily as a regulatory lncRNA rather than as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other canonical drug target.
