MTUS2 antisense RNA 2 (MTUS2-AS2) is a long non-coding antisense RNA gene located antisense to the coding gene MTUS2 on chromosome 13[1][4]. It does not encode any protein and belongs to the molecular class of lncRNAs, specifically antisense RNAs, as defined by the HGNC[1][6]. By virtue of its antisense orientation, MTUS2-AS2 may be involved in the regulation of MTUS2 gene expression, possibly affecting transcription, mRNA stability, or translation through various mechanisms such as RNA-RNA interactions, chromatin modification, or influencing three-dimensional chromatin organization[5][8]. There is no current evidence that MTUS2-AS2 is itself a direct target for therapeutic drugs, nor is it established as a disease biomarker. The biological roles of MTUS2-AS2 remain incompletely elucidated, typical of many antisense lncRNAs, but it may participate in gene regulatory networks and epigenetic modulation[1][5][6]. No documented disease associations, drug interactions, or safety concerns are associated with MTUS2-AS2 at this time[1][4][7].
