The MUC1 peptide–MHC class I complex is a molecular assembly whereby a peptide fragment derived from Mucin 1, typically aberrantly expressed in cancer, is bound in the groove of an MHC class I molecule on the cell surface[10]. This presentation enables recognition by cytotoxic T cells, which can mediate immune clearance of abnormal cells. The specificity, affinity, and conformation of peptide binding to MHC-I are crucial for effective immune activation, with structural studies highlighting the importance of certain peptide residues for stable binding[1][8][10].
