Target intelligence / Profile preview
Mucosal B-cell activity refers to the functions and responses of B lymphocytes located in mucosa-associated lymphoid tissues (MALT). These B cells are specialized for immune defense at mucosal surfaces, producing secretory IgA antibodies that neutralize pathogens and maintain homeostasis with commensal microbiota. They are crucial for preventing infections at barrier sites and can also contribute to inflammatory diseases if dysregulated. Mucosal B cells can also function as antigen presenting cells to activate T cells, initiating adaptive immune responses at mucosae.
