Multidrug resistance-associated protein 1 (MRP1), encoded by the ABCC1 gene, is an ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter that mediates the efflux of a wide range of substrates, including anticancer drugs, organic anions, and signaling molecules. Its primary role is to transport these substances across cellular membranes, contributing to drug resistance in cancer and influencing inflammatory and immune responses. It also plays a role in autosomal dominant sensorineural deafness.
