Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ershiwuwei Lvxue Pill (ELP) is a complex traditional Tibetan medicine formulation composed of 25 ingredients, traditionally used to treat Lvxue diseases, which correspond to Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and gout in modern medicine (Li et al., 2021, Journal of Ethnopharmacology). Rather than acting on a single receptor, ELP targets a broad network of proteins including Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1B), and Prostaglandin-Endoperoxide Synthase 2 (PTGS2) (Zhang et al., 2022, Frontiers in Pharmacology). These targets are integral to the TNF, NF-kappa B, and MAPK signaling pathways, which drive the chronic inflammation and joint destruction characteristic of RA (Wang et al., 2020, Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine). By inhibiting these pro-inflammatory mediators and pathways, ELP reduces synovial infiltration, bone erosion, and systemic inflammation. The multi-component nature of the pill allows for a synergistic therapeutic effect that addresses the complex pathophysiology of autoimmune disorders, though it presents challenges for standard pharmacological characterization.
Synergistic inhibition of multiple pro-inflammatory cytokines and signaling pathways (TNF, NF-kappaB, MAPK) to reduce synovial inflammation and joint destruction.
