Muscle-Specific Kinase Receptor (MuSK)

Target
MuSK
Molecular classification
Receptor Tyrosine Kinase, Receptor
01

Overview

Muscle-specific kinase (MuSK) is a receptor tyrosine kinase essential for the formation, maintenance, and function of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ). Activated by agrin and LRP4, MuSK triggers AChR clustering and synaptic protein transcription. Autoantibodies against MuSK cause MuSK-MG, characterized by impaired NMJ function.

Other names

Mechanism of action

Blocking MuSK signaling with autoantibodies leads to impaired neuromuscular junction function and downstream consequences in the disease myasthenia gravis.
