Overview

MYCL antisense RNA 1 (MYCL-AS1), also known as MYCLos-1, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the MYCL gene. It is involved in the regulation of MYC target genes such as CDKN1A (encoding p21) and CDKN2B (encoding p15), primarily by interacting with RNA-binding proteins like HuR and modulating promoter activity in target genes. MYCL-AS1 is part of a complex regulatory network downstream of the MYC proto-oncogene, influencing cell cycle progression, cell proliferation, and tumor-suppressive pathways. Its altered expression and function are associated with cancer cell biology but, as of the current evidence, it is not a direct therapeutic drug target[1][7].
