Mycobacterium tuberculosis Antigen(s)

Molecular classification
Bacterial protein, Glycolipid, Lipoprotein
01

Overview

Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens are molecular components—primarily proteins, but also lipids and carbohydrates—expressed by the bacterium M. tuberculosis, the causative agent of tuberculosis (TB). These antigens are recognized by the host immune system and play critical roles in both pathogenesis and immune response, making them important targets for diagnostics, vaccine development, and therapeutic interventions. Key examples include the Antigen 85 Complex (Ag85A, Ag85B, Ag85C), PE-PGRS family proteins, PTRP, MtrA, and Lipoarabinomannan (LAM).
