The Ag85B protein is a major secreted antigen and mycolyltransferase enzyme produced by *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. It is part of the antigen 85 (Ag85) complex and plays an essential role in the biosynthesis of the mycobacterial cell wall. Ag85B catalyzes transesterification reactions to synthesize trehalose monomycolate (TMM), trehalose dimycolate (TDM), and mycolated arabinogalactan. It is a prominent candidate for subunit vaccines against TB and considered an attractive drug target.
