Target intelligence / Profile preview
Mtb39A is a 39-kDa protein antigen of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It belongs to the PE/PPE protein family and is conserved among M. tuberculosis and M. bovis BCG. It is an intracellular protein that elicits a strong T-cell response, making it a potential diagnostic and vaccine candidate. Recombinant Mtb39A is used in ELISA assays for TB diagnosis, and DNA immunization studies have shown protective effects in animal models. It is also a component of the M72/AS01E vaccine.
