Myelin peptide-specific T cells are a subset of T lymphocytes that recognize and respond to peptides derived from myelin proteins, such as myelin basic protein (MBP) and proteolipid protein (PLP), which are key components of the myelin sheath in the central nervous system. These cells play a central role in autoimmune demyelinating diseases, most notably multiple sclerosis (MS), where they contribute to immune-mediated damage of myelin.
