Overview

Myelin-specific autoreactive T cells are immune cells that recognize and respond to antigens derived from myelin, the insulating sheath surrounding nerve fibers in the central nervous system (CNS). These T cells play a central role in autoimmune demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS), where they mediate immune attacks against myelin, leading to neuroinflammation and tissue damage. Targeting these autoreactive populations is a key strategy for treating autoimmune demyelinating diseases.
